Healthy Eating with Yoga and Nutrition Workshops

Join us for a week of healthy plant based eating. Enjoy 3 delicious and healthy plant based meals daily, combined with Yoga in the morning & evening meditation.

During the retreat there will be daily hands-on cooking classes and nutritional talks where we will teach you how to prepare healthy meals and give you the latest information on nutrition and health.

In the afternoon there will be the possibility to take some guided hikes in the nature reserve that surround our property or take some time to relax in our salt water pool, hot tub & sauna. Or pamper yourself with an additional treatment by one of our therapists.

    The diet plan we offer gives you a scientifically proven way of eating that will help you reach a healthy body weight, feel better and protects you against many chronic diseases. This program is not only for vegans, but also for those wanting to make a transition towards a more plant based diet.

    As any movement towards a more plant based diet can give you significant health benefits, we will teach you how to prepare healthy and delicious meals from whole plant foods that are loaded with nutrients. The program can also be used as a good preparation for our juice detox program that will start after the retreat.

    Yoga, Exercise, Meditation and Relaxation

    Our yoga classes are accessible to all - whether you are a beginner or seasoned yogi our skilled teachers can guide you through an enriching and relaxing practice that supports your retreat. 

    Yoga is a fundamental part of our programmes because the combination of gentle moving, stretching, and twisting together with deep breathing, significantly helps the detox process for body, mind and spirit. This enables an even greater appreciation of the highly nutritous food you will now be enjoying! 

    The evening workshops include a range of meditations and workshops, which further assist the release of tensions held in the physical, mental, and emotional levels of the body. These practices help you to let go of them, to relax properly, and to sleep more comfortably.

    During the day, you can relax, swim, have a therapy session, explore, and walk around the area and even help out in the organic gardens. Once per week we also take a trip to one of the stunning local beaches. 

    There is a collection of videos and DVDs of related subjects and movies to watch. The sauna is on in the early evening. The hot tub is on every day.

    Ed Van Tegelen

    Ed has been resident nutritionist at Moinhos Velhos since 2016. He uses an evidence-based approach to cut through the confusion about nutrition and will give you advice that’s firmly rooted in science.

    While appreciating the importance of the nutritional composition of foods, he's also conscious that food also has to delight your taste buds and warm your heart! Having previously worked as a plant-based chef in a restaurant he can provide not only lots of tips and ideas for a healthier diet, but also meals that are creative and simply delicious. 

    When he is not busy with our guests you can usually find him somewhere at work in our garden as he has a deep appreciation of the entire process of what we eat, from the first moment the seeds are handled to what ends up on your plate.

    Ed is also a traditional Thai massage & foot reflexology therapist and he is also offering his treatments here at Moinhos Velhos. He looks forward to welcoming you!
