Our fabulous head nutritionist Ed van Tegelen has released his first book, Nutrition In The Kitchen. As those of you who have visited MV know, Ed is not only an absolute encycopedia of nutritional knowledge but he's also a creative genius with his food preparation (those who've tried the broth in recent years will attest to this, he can work miracles with it!) His book similarly combines nutritional knowledge with delicious recipes.

One of our fabulous facilitators Richard has recently published his first book, Understanding Human Nature, A User's Guide To Life! The book brings together 25yrs of Richard's experience in Chinese medicine, yoga and meditation, dance and movement, Native American mysticism, tantra and community living, and of course a healthy dose of his experiences here at Moinhos Velhos where he's been since 2014!

As well as teaching yoga for many years Richard is also a practising acupuncturist and works with the concepts of Yin and Yang within the treatment room. He's also found they become a fantastically helpful prism for how we perceive life around us, including helping to manage our own wellbeing as we can’t escape the dynamic impact of these forces on every aspect of our lives – including our yoga practice.

We are often quizzed by guests before they arrive regarding consumption of fruit juices where they have heard, read or been advised by a health care professional about Candida. Usually some time in the company of our nutritional genius Ed helps them to come to a more informed understanding, that it's not quite the universal 'bad' guy it's often painted out to be.

The food choices you make are a personal matter, which involves things like taste, culture, pleasure, community and health. Nowadays, there are lots of different opinions and schools of thought concerning diet, with often contradicting information. The one point of consensus being that eating more fruit and vegetables is good for your health.
